On Wednesday, 6 May 2015, The Little Prince Art Collection exhibition by French artist Arnaud Nazare-Aga was inaugurated by Olivier d’Agay, great-nephew of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry and Delegate General of the Antoine de Saint-Exupéry Youth Foundation, in the presence of the French Ambassador to Singapore and Singaporean architect, Liu Thai Ker.
This one-of-a-kind touring art exhibition was conceived in partnership with the Antoine de Saint-Exupéry Youth Foundation and is presented for the very first time in Singapore at the prestigious and historic Fullerton Hotel Singapore, as a highlight of the French cultural festival “Voilah! 2015” paying tribute this year to the author of The Little Prince.
Arnaud Nazare-Aga and Paj’Art Studio created 14 limited-edition hand-painted, coloured sculptures representing the main characters of Saint-Exupéry’s beloved children’s book. This unique art collection is presented alongside a display of rare manuscripts, letters and first-edition books from the private collection of the Antoine de Saint-Exupéry Estate, which have never been shown before in Singapore.
Moreover, The Fullerton Hotel Singapore is also hosting an exhibition of historical photography recounting the great adventure of the pioneers of aviation of Latécoère (the first French airmail company founded in 1918 by Pierre-Georges Latécoère and the future Aéropostale), which brought together legendary pilots such as Saint-Exupéry, Mermoz and Guillaumet in the 1920s, the same period as the construction of The Fullerton Hotel (the “Grand Old Dame” was the site of the General Post Office and was built between 1925 and 1928).
Olivier d’Agay says, “The Antoine de Saint-Exupéry Youth Foundation is honoured to participate in the French cultural festival ‘Voilah!’, which gives us a great opportunity to present never-before-seen exhibitions paying tribute to my illustrious relative, the legendary pilot and award-winning author Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, for the first time in Singapore.”
