Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s family auctioned an exceptional manuscript by the writer-pilot at Sotheby’s in Paris to endow the Antoine de Saint-Exupéry Youth Foundation, which it created under the aegis of the Fondation de France, with essential funding needed to support the greatest number of projects for youth.
By purchasing the unique signed manuscript of the central chapter of Terre des Hommes (Wind, Sand and Stars) called “In the Centre of the Desert”, the Musée des Lettres et Manuscrits (Museum of Letters and Manuscripts) shows its commitment to the Foundation. This acquisition thus completes the Saint-Exupéry collection owned by this superb Museum, located at the heart of Saint-Germain-des-Prés in Paris, where the general public can from now on view this treasure of French literature.
