This cooperation agreement paves the way for concrete programmes in education, the environment and corporate social responsibility
Singapore, 6 May 2015 – On 5 May 2015, united by common values and a pioneering spirit, ESSEC Business School and Antoine de Saint Exupéry Youth Foundation, signed a partnership agreement in Singapore, aimed at building special relations with one another. The Foundation will be able to take greater action in favour of youth in France and across the world, while ESSEC will reinforce the activities of its Center of Excellence for Management and Society, in regards to research, education or operational projects.
Since it was first founded in 1907, ESSEC has been dedicated to shaping agile, creative and open-minded individuals, capable of combining managerial effectiveness with collective responsibility to serve the common good. Wishing to take its action on this commitment to a new level, ESSEC founded the Center of Excellence for Management and Society in 2014, dedicated to uniting reflection and action so that management serves the men and women in society, the common good and sustainable development.
Even before the Agreement was signed, ESSEC and Antoine de Saint Exupery Youth Foundation had cooperated together in December 2014, in Paris, jointly organising the launch of The Little Prince tactile art book. ESSEC’s Disability Mission and the students from the association Raid ESSEC, already extensively involved in events welcoming people with disabilities, also eagerly joined in the occasion.
The initiatives planned under this Agreement are intended to foster concrete programmes in favour of students and other ESSEC populations, in several different areas: education, the environment, corporate social responsibility, citizenship, disability, culture, philanthropy, etc.
In 2015, the exhibition “The Earth our Inheritage” organised by Antoine Saint Exupery Youth Foundation will be on display at the ESSEC Asia-Pacific Campus in Singapore, from the beginning of May and throughout the duration of the “Voilah” festival, held by the Embassy of France in Singapore, in May and June. The exhibition will also be shown on 16 October, at ESSEC’s campus in Paris-La Défense, as part of the Eco-Campus 3 colloquium: “Committ and Act for Climate” jointly organised by Conférence des Grandes Ecoles, Conférence des Présidents d’Université, ESSEC Business School and Université Paris Ouest Nanterre La Défense, within the context of COP 21 – Paris Climate 2015. The initiative is also part of the 2nd Involvement Week organised by ESSEC.
The exhibition “The Earth our Inheritage”, produced by writer Jean-Pierre Guéno, is an invitation to learn about Antoine de Saint Exupéry’s ecological thinking, through drawings and manuscripts little-known to the general public. Numerous photos of planets and space, taken by NASA, CNES and the ESA, along with renowned photos taken by Yann Arthus-Bertrand accompany Antoine de Saint Exupéry’s message. For Saint Exupéry, ecology is more than the call of the wild: it encompasses urban planning, social relations, Man’s experience of money and spirituality. The beauty and fragility of our planet are also singularly echoed in the quotations taken from Saint Exupéry’s works and dotted throughout the exhibition, helping visitors understand the importance of preserving the environment and its natural resources.
Speaking opportunities at events or training seminars, special assignments and research topics for students will also be organised. ESSEC professors and members of Antoine de Saint Exupéry Youth Foundation’s Patronage Committee will also be involved.
These first initiatives are fully in step with the founding purposes of ESSEC’s Center of Excellence for Management and Society and those of the Antoine de Saint Exupery Youth Foundation.
