ACTION : Global project for children in Madagascar
COUNTRY : Madagascar
EMDH works to protect children and their rights. The non-profit organisation draws on the international convention for Children’s Rights adopted by the Assembly General of the United Nations on 20 November 1989. It develops major socio-educational missions and provides psychological help to the most vulnerable children and their families.
Since 1994, EMDH has operated in Madagascar to provide children with access to education, training and employment. In 2008, the non-profit organisation created a centre dedicated to work in partnership with local authorities and companies (CREJ). The support of the Foundation will allow EMDH to pursue its mission around 4 axes: to enable thousands of children unregistered at the time of their birth to obtain legal recognition; to reinforce and improve their academic conditions; to fight against marginalisation from school and to facilitate social integration on a permanent basis thanks to access to training and employment.
The auction proceeds of the IWC Big Pilot’s Watch Edition Antoine de Saint-Exupéry (unique platinum model) sold by Sotheby’s on 9 May 2010 was donated to the Foundation to finance this activity.
