The Antoine de Saint-Exupéry Youth Foundation (FASEJ) has been a partner of the Raid Latécoère since 2010. The departure of the 2015 Africa Raid took place at Toulouse Francazal airport.
From 2 to 17 October 2015, about twenty teams flew on the Latécoère and Aéropostale routes, which celebrate the 90th anniversary of the implementation of regular postal service from Toulouse to Dakar this year.
On this occasion, 300 copies of the graphic novel “Saint Exupéry, Le Seigneur des Sables” (Saint-Exupéry, The Lord of the Sands), offered by the FASEJ in partnership with Éditions Glénat, were given by the Raid Latécoère’s crews to the Saint-Exupéry Secondary School of Rabat and to students of schools in Tarfaya (formerly Cap Juby).
A talk by Bernard Bacquié on his latest book “Saint-Ex au Maroc” (Saint-Ex in Morocco), prefaced by Mr. Chakib Benmoussa, Ambassador of Morocco in France, and by Mr. François d’Agay, Chairman of the FASEJ, was given on 7 October 2015 during the Raid Latécoère’s stopover in Tarfaya.
Before leaving, around ten students of the Lycée Qualifiant (qualifying secondary school) of Tarfaya were able to go on their first flights aboard an Antonov taking part in the Raid, together with a young Moroccan named Nouamane El Asraoui, who is currently taking a training course in aeronautical mechanics within the framework of the “66 Licences for La Ligne” (66 Licences for La Ligne) partnership between the FASEJ and the company Air Formation.
“Taking to the air to connect men” is the Raid Latécoère’s motto: an incredible human adventure that carries out numerous charitable activities for youth on all its stops in Africa, in the footsteps of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry and the pioneers of the Aéropostale.
