On July 11, 2023, a sculpture by Arnaud Nazare-Aga, donated by the Fondation Antoine de Saint-Exupéry pour la Jeunesse as part of the global commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the publication of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s “The Little Prince”, was unveiled by Dr Janil Puthucheary, Minister of State for Communications and Information, and by Ms Minh-di Tang, Ambassador of the French Republic to Singapore, in the presence of the artist and Nicolas Delsalle, General Delegate of the Foundation, as well as Hossan Leong, Singapore’s most Francophile artist, who read the first three chapters of the book in English.
The participation in the ceremony of pupils from the nursery school located in the same building and members of Punggol’s senior citizens club added a touch of intimacy, while reminding us that the Little Prince is intended for everyone, regardless of age, gender, culture, religion or social status. The arrival of the sculpture is accompanied by several activities, including an interactive tour, “Around the world with the Little Prince”, open until September 30, featuring the Little Prince character and toys from the Mint museum of toys.
The library also houses a collection of over 60 translations and adaptations of The Little Prince, as well as a Braille copy at the Punggol regional library.
